OVERVIEW

Kyusik joined Richards Buell Sutton in May, 2023, as a Summer Student. He will be studying at the National University of Singapore in the fall of 2023, and will return to the Peter A. Allard School of Law to finish his law degree in April, 2024, before returning to RBS as an Articled Student.

He was born and raised in South Korea, and came to Vancouver when he was 16. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of British Columbia with a major in Psychology.

During his education in law school, he volunteered for Law Students’ Legal Advice Program in the Allard School of Law, where he provided legal assistance and information to individuals of limited means. Before joining RBS, Kyusik worked as a legal intern at a boutique criminal law firm in Vancouver.

Outside the office, Kyusik enjoys playing baseball with the Asian community, writing journals, and traveling.

Interesting Facts About Kyusik:

  • Before entering Law school, Kyusik worked as a translator/interpreter in South Korea for a year.
  • As a Korean citizen, he duly served his military service duty as an infantry division leader in 2021 and 2022. He received Ministerial Commendation from the Minister of Korean National Defence and a division Commander’s Commendation for his outstanding performance during his military service.
  • During his post-secondary education, Kyusik received two faculty of arts international scholarships and two faculty of law international scholarships.
