OVERVIEW
Nick is a member of the firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution group specializing in construction law, builder’s liens, commercial leasing, estate litigation, review hearings (Legal Profession Act), and personal injury (with a focus on occupiers’ liability claims exclusively representing injury victims). With extensive experience as a civil litigator, Nick has effectively represented clients across all levels of court in British Columbia.
Nick is adept at advancing claims in court while also prioritizing efficient resolution outside of court through negotiation and mediation. His objective is to deliver innovative and practical solutions tailored to each client’s legal challenges.
Before embarking on his legal career, Nick earned a B.A. in Criminology and worked in various trades throughout the lower mainland, including hazardous tree removal, carpentry, and in the restaurant industry. His hands-on experience in the construction sector fueled a lifelong interest in real estate and construction.
During law school Nick earned various awards, including the George H. Steer Scholarship, the Alberta Law Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship, Dean’s List, the W. Bernie Kelly Q.C. Memorial Prize, the Maritime Law Book Prize in Professional Responsibility, the Norman J. Pollock Q.C. Prize in Advocacy and the A.I. Shumiatcher Memorial Prize in Advocacy.
Nick completed a Judicial Law Clerkship with the B.C. Supreme Court, where he clerked for six Supreme Court Justices. He subsequently practiced law at a national law firm and a plaintiff-focused personal injury firm in Vancouver. Through this diverse experience, Nick discovered his passion for helping clients navigate and resolve complex disputes in the areas of construction, real estate, estates, and personal injury.
Community engagement is a cornerstone of Nick’s values. He currently serves on the Executive and is the 1st Vice President for the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia (TLABC), following multiple years serving on TLABC’s Board of Governors. Additionally, Nick volunteers as a youth baseball coach.
Outside of his legal practice, Nick maintains an active lifestyle, is an enthusiastic sports fan, and enjoys quality time with his wife and their three young children.
Nick provides legal services through Peterson Law Corporation.
