Registered Trademark Agent, Melissa Heywood, Selected for INTA Committee

Melissa Heywood, a Registered Trademark Agent with our firm, has been selected as one of the 12 members of the International Trademark Association’s “Trademark Office Practices Committee – CIPO Subcommittee” for 2018/2019.

INTA is the global association of trademark owners and professionals dedicated to supporting trademarks and related intellectual property in order to protect consumers and to promote fair and effective commerce.  INTA’s members are more than 7,000 organizations from 190 countries.

The TOPC/CIPO Subcommittee will evaluate and suggest improvements regarding the Canadian Trademarks Office’s practices, procedures, operations and regulations.  This subcommittee is particularly important as it will have impact on the new practices of the Trademarks Office in light of the substantial changes to the Trademarks Act which are anticipated to come into force in 2019.
