RBS celebrates the Black Pioneers of our province

In solidarity with our nation, we honour the significant contributions Black Canadians have made to our country’s heritage and identity. Our founder, Albert Norton Richards, established the firm in Victoria, BC in 1871 before becoming the 2nd Lieutenant Governor of our province. Sir James Douglas, the first British Governor of Vancouver Island and British Columbia, encouraged the settlement of Blacks fleeing from persecution in California.
