You never know what type of work you'll receive at any given moment and while it may be initially daunting if the person giving you the project greatly over estimates your ability or experience, with the wealth of resources available, be it the databases, the books, the staff or the lawyers, you're able to tackle it head on and gain a lot of hands on experience.  - Gina Wu, Articled 2010-2011

Meet Our Students

Aneez N. Devji

3 things you should know about Aneez:

  • He looks back fondly on his competitive soccer days.  Unfortunately, he was 12 years old at the time.
  • Shows his pride in being a Vancouverite by being a die-hard Canucks fan and decorating himself in Canucks paraphernalia.
  • Developed a strong addiction to colourful highlighters in law school and hopes to bring the neon felts with him to RBS.

Richard Yalowsky

3 things you should know about Richard:

  • During his undergrad, he played football for the University of Calgary Dinos and was named the University's Male Athlete of the Year in 2005.  He was then drafted in the first round of the 2007 CFL draft but was forced to hang up his football cleats after suffering a knee injury.
  • At law school, Richard was on the board of directors for the University of Saskatchewan Legal Follies Variety Show.  He also particpated in the show as a member of the men's dance group, the Hallmeyers.
  • Richard has lived in all four western provinces.  He is happy to be back on the West Coast.

3 things you should know about Rutsu:

  • She loves animals so much that she devoted a summer to volunteering in a zoo in Guatemala, where she played with baby jaguars, survived a possible attack by spider monkeys using a garden hose, and cleaned up after hippos.
  • She has a pug named Tai. She is convinced that one day he will start talking to her... just like in Men in Black.
  • She was part of an all-female hip hop dance crew that performed throughout the lower mainland. The crew even had their own weekly event night hosted at a local nightclub. Perhaps you've seen her perform...

Pararin Rahmani, 2011 Summer Student

3 things you should know about Pararin:

  • She is well on her way to becoming a world traveler. Fascinated by different cultures and languages, she is fluent in English, Farsi, and Spanish.  Her record of the most European cities visited during a single trip is 7 cities in 17 days, she hopes to one day exhaust the number of pages on her passport faster than it expires.
  • A committed traveler of the waters of the Pacific Ocean (Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen), she holds the unofficial record for the most number of hours spent on a ferry during any semester of law school.
  • She has an extensive tea collection she has gathered from her exploration of places far and away.
