Scott MacDonald is the head of the Litigation Department at Richards Buell Sutton LLP and chairs the firm's Employment Law Practice Group. With over 20 years of litigation and dispute resolution experience, Scott regularly advises employers and employees on hiring, workplace conduct, duties to accommodate, and termination or separation issues. He has appeared as counsel for both employers and employees in all levels of trial and appellate courts in British Columbia, and has experience as counsel in arbitrations and mediations. Some of his cases are summarized in the section on notable cases. His advocacy experience in employment matters extends to administrative hearings before the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal. He has also represented the Federal Employment Insurance Commission on appeals from decisions of the Board of Referees to Federal Court Judges sitting as Umpires.

Georg Reuter is a partner whose employment law practice focuses primarily on advising both employees and employers on the terms of their employment relationship. As such he gives advice on employment related policies and agreements including: employment and consulting contracts, employment policies, compensation and stock option plans and agreements for the protection of confidential information, assignment of intellectual property and protection from unfair competition. Georg also advises both employers and employees on the issues arising from termination of employment, including claims of wrongful and constructive dismissal. As Georg's other primary practice area is intellectual property law, many of Georg's clients are in the information technology and life sciences sector, where the issue of protecting an employer's right to intellectual property created by employees and consultants is critical to a company's success. Georg has represented clients at all levels of the Court system, including the Supreme Court of Canada. Since 2002, however, Georg has restricted his employment practice to solicitor's work.

Peter has been practising employment law at Richards Buell Sutton LLP since his call to the bar in 1997. He has advanced and defended wrongful dismissal claims at the Provincial and Supreme Court levels, and appeared as counsel before the Employment Standards Tribunal. Peter has extensive experience advising clients on all aspects of wrongful dismissal disputes, including constructive dismissal, bad faith allegations, reasonable notice entitlements and dismissal for "cause". Peter draws on this experience to provide clients with careful, cost effective advice about litigation and dispute resolution options and strategies.

Nicole Mangan became a member of the Employment Law Practice Group at Richards Buell Sutton LLP in 2003. She advises employers and employees on wrongful dismissal claims and proceedings before tribunals involved in adjudicating issues arising from the employment relationship. Nicole has represented employers and employees in wrongful dismissal actions before the Provincial Small Claims Court and the British Columbia Supreme Court, and routinely advises on the procedures in these forums. Nicole's tribunal experience includes: defending claims of harassment and discrimination at the Human Rights Tribunal; conducting appeals on behalf of employers at the Employment Standards Tribunal; representing employer's interests at the Employment Standards Branch; conducting Employment Insurance Appeals for employees before the Board of Referees and Umpire; and conducting WorkSafeBC Review Division and Workers' Compensation Appeal Tribunal (WCAT) appeals. Nicole also has experience in alternative dispute resolution procedures, such as mediation, that are often available in both the court and tribunal settings.
