Assistant
Scott is the head of our Construction Law Group and practises with the Intellectual Property Group. Prior to joining Richards Buell Sutton LLP in 2000, Scott practised law for over six years with a national law firm in Toronto. His legal expertise has led him to become a prolific author, editor, lecturer, and media interviewee on a variety of legal topics.

Construction
- Acts for national and major local real estate development companies, contractors and material suppliers as well as construction consultants and architects
- Construction disputes and litigation, including builders' liens
- Construction contracts, including negotiation and drafting
examples:
- Negotiated $92 million construction contract for major downtown Vancouver residential development
- Successfully resolved litigation involving over $3 million worth of liens and disputes for a master plan residential community in the lower mainland of British Columbia
Intellectual Property
- Acts for variety of intellectual property owners from large institutions to small entrepreneurs
- Intellectual property disputes and litigation, with an emphasis on trade-mark and copyright matters

- Supervised international patent and license litigation
- Acted as counsel for national retailer in trade-mark infringement cases
- Acted as counsel in successful Federal Court of Appeal trademark infringement cases

Background
Scott is married and has a son. Outside of the office he coaches his sons's hockey team and enjoys skiing with his family. Scott also admits to a passion for art, architecture and politics having been involved with federal and provincial election campaigns.
