Sharon White, RBS Partner and Chair of the firm's Securities and Corporate Finance Department, named the new BC Liberal Party President and Co-Chair of the Provincial Election Readiness Committee
Saturday May 14th, Sharon White was acclaimed the President of the BC Liberal Party during the Party's 2011 Convention held in the Okanagan at the Penticton Trade & Convention Centre. At the same time, Premier Christy Clark named Sharon as Co-Chair of the Provincial Election Readiness Committee, which is responsible for preparing the Party for the next provincial election.
Sharon was a significant figure in securing Premier Clark's leadership win as her Co-Chair and served as a member of Premier Christy Clark's transition team into government. The leadership and skill shown by Sharon in successfully carrying out those roles is well known to us at RBS and her clients.
As President of the BC Liberal Party, Sharon's legal and political background will help her navigate the framework of the Party as ultimately she is responsible to supervise all of the affairs of the Party. With Sharon as the new President, the Party is embarking on a renewal process and will be reaching out to the 90,000 plus members of the Party to seek their input on changes such as as a new name and policy engagement.
As Co-Chair of the Provincial Election Readiness Committee alongside Minister Rich Coleman, Sharon is responsible for ensuring that the Party is well organized and funded so that Premier Christy Clark and the BC Liberals are in a position to win the next election.
The confidence shown by Premier Christy Clark, and by the members of the BC Liberal Party, in asking Sharon to take on these responsibilities is remarkable, and well deserved. These are significant honours bestowed upon Sharon, and we at RBS are very proud of her success and commitment to public service.Sharon White, a senior Partner with the firm, practices in the areas of Securities & Corporate Finance and Intellectual Property Law.
